MEGAN "BIJOU" COATES

Megan Coates is a Costume Designer, Stylist & Visual Artist. She works in the Film, Television, Music Video, Commercial & Print industries. Megan’s work can be seen in films such as Director Tate Taylor’s Ma starring Octavia Spencer, Allison Janney, Luke Evans and Juliet Lewis, Ava starring Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and John Malkovich, The Lovebirds directed by Michael Showalter starring Issa Rae & Kumail Nunjiani, Palmer starring Justin Timberlake directed by Fisher Stevens & soon to be released Surrounded starring Letitia Wright, Jamie Bell and Michael K. Williams directed by Anthony Mandler. Megan’s most recent Costume Design credit is The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, a limited series for Apple TV, written by Walter Mosley & starring Samuel L. Jackson, Dominique Fishback & Walton Goggins.

Megan is a 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Award Nominee for her work as Assistant Costume Designer on "Roots". Megan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Technical Theater specializing in Costume Design from Emerson College in Boston in 2007. Since the completion of her studies Megan has worked on numerous television & film, video, commercial & print projects in Louisiana, California, Mississippi, North Carolina, Massachusetts, New Mexico & Georgia. 

Megan possesses a strong knowledge of color theory, design & garment construction. She is passionate about the duality of melding psychology & design in the story telling process & loves the collaborative process which comes from working alongside other passionate creatives.
